Everything you need to know about the Placement Program — the job, the money, the visa, and how to apply. No degree required. Jump to any section, or just scroll.
A one-week orientation in Cambodia, then a guaranteed teaching job.
A one-week orientation in Cambodia — cultural excursions, welcome dinner and a teaching practicum, accommodation included — then straight into your guaranteed placement.
A 4-week, 120-hour in-class TESOL course in Thailand with two practice teaching days, then an orientation week in Cambodia — then your guaranteed placement.
Same schools, same salary, same no-degree rule — the difference is whether you need the teaching qualification first. Not sure which fits? We'll help you choose.
TEFL Heaven started when I invited myself on a girl's flight to Bangkok. She said yes — and seventeen years later we've sent more than 3,000 teachers abroad, and it's still a family business.
Cambodia is the one people pick when the degree box is the problem: a high school diploma is enough here, and the job is still guaranteed.
"Over 17 years we've placed more than 3,000 English teachers in classrooms from Bangkok to Buenos Aires." A family business, still run by the person who started it.
$800–$1,500 a month with just a high school diploma — up to $1,600 with a degree — and $300–$500 of it saved. Weekends at Angkor Wat, riverside Phnom Penh, and a coastline most tourists never reach.
Already certified means already close. Your accredited 120-hour TEFL, TESOL or CELTA is your ticket in — send it with your application.
Kindergarten and primary make up most placements. Classes of 15–25, in private and international schools.
Two days off a week (they may not be back-to-back). All public holidays off; some schools run Saturday classes.
Be open to teaching more than just English — many schools want several subjects taught in English. Placements run across Cambodia — Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, Battambang, Krong Poi Pet and Serei Saophoan. Right now the capital has fewer openings than usual, so the more open you are on location, the faster you’re placed. Contracts run 12 months and are renewable — and some schools refund your work-permit costs when you finish one.
August and January are the best intakes. Sign up 3 months ahead; move yours free with 35+ days’ notice. Every intake has limited seats and some fill months early — we confirm live availability the day you apply.
Your place is held and the work starts — placement prep, visa guidance and your paperwork.
Invoiced well ahead. Nothing else falls due after this.
$695 + $802 = $1,497 — the whole price. The deposit is part of it, never extra on top.
And the program can pay you back. $200 every time someone books through your affiliate link — free place on our Digital Marketing Program.
Not included: medical insurance, flights, visa fees, meals, fun and daily transport, long-term housing (we help you find it) and bank fees. Buy travel insurance for your full contract.
Most people sign up alone. Nobody finishes alone — the group you train with becomes your first circle of friends in the country.
It covers you until your first paycheck lands. Immigration also asks to see $700 in cash as proof of funds when you arrive — you don't spend it, it stays yours.
We're telling you this early on purpose. If that number isn't realistic right now, you should know today — not after you've paid.
Small visible tattoos may be fine — tell us at signup. Religious dress isn't allowed on this program, and a health check is needed for the work permit.
Arrive on a tourist visa and you’ll make one border trip later — 1 to 4 days, budget $150–$300.
We'd rather you knew all of this today than at the airport.
"I loved my instructor, he was knowledgeable, funny, and really supportive. He helped make sure I felt prepared before my first lesson and for everything following. I adored my TEFL coordinator (we are still close friends!) She made the adjustment to Cambodia smooth."
"It was comprehensive and professional and required of me to give my best, but I also felt appreciated for who I am with my unique abilities and talents and challenges. The trainer had an amazing way of teaching and relating to us and made me feel really relaxed whenever I took myself too seriously!"
"I arrived in Phnom Penh knowing nobody. Three months later I had a school I loved, an apartment I was proud of, and more friends than I'd had in years. The expat community there is something special."
